Simple Crochet Booties – Free Crochet Pattern

This Simple Crochet Booties pattern was named that for a reason. This booty is made in simple rows and sew together. The sewing is super simple, nothing complicated about this pattern. It uses FPSC and BPSC and single crochets. I make pairs for my family every year. I hope you will too.

I keep getting asked the question about making the booties have more of a grip. I personally never needed it, but I have found a link to something you could use on Amazon.

This pattern will be for the default women and men sizes. The men size I will put in ( ) ‘s

SIZING

There are two default sizes, one for men and one for women. If the woman your making this for has smaller feet then feel free to reduce, if the man your making it for has extra wide feet, feel free to add, just make sure you end up on an odd number.

The default size for women is 29 sts with a length of 23 cms or 9 inches. So SCFS 29 or chain 30

The men’s default size is 35 sts with the same length of 23 cms or 9 inches. So SCFS 35 or chain 36

If you want to make it a bit smaller for a teenager or smaller child then I recommend starting 26 and using 8 sts on outer sections and 7 in middle section. So SCFS 25 or chain 26

Keep in mind these stretch as you walk on them the loosen and form to fit your feet. If you make them to fit the foot exactly, then as they loosen it will become to big. So measure the foot and do ¾th of the booty in the first part of the stitch. Then do the last ¼ in the stitch used at the toes.

To start:

Chain 30 (36 men size)

Row 1

sc in 2nd chain from hook and in all sts of the chain. Ch 1 and turn 29 sts (35sts)

Row 2

sc in first 9 sts (11 sts) then scbp, sc in next 9 sts (11 sts) then scbp, sc in last 9 sts (11 sts) ch 1 and turn

Row 3

sc in first 9 sts (11 sts) then scfp, sc in next 9 sts (11 sts) then scfp, sc in last 9 sts (11 sts) ch 1 and turn. Good to place a marker here so you know which side to scfp.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until your booty reaches 14 cms or 5 ½ inches make sure to end where the scfp side is facing you as shown below. It’s important.

As you can see the bottom part should cover 3/4 ths of the foot with the back part together because this part will be sewn together.

Making the Toe Section \ Top Section

To do the toe section, SCFP, then SCBP, and repeat this along the row. Ch 1 and turn.

Repeat this until the booty reaches 24 cms or 9 1/2 inches. Stop crocheting with the SCFP side facing away from you. The flat side should be facing you.

Ch 1 and leaving a long tail for sewing, cut your yarn.

Gather the top stitches by weaving back and forth through the tops of the scfp and scbp stitches. Stopping after you’ve gathered 6 or so stitches and pull through them, then gather another 6 and repeat.

Pull the yarn tight, forming a cup and put your tapestry needle through the other side of the booty as shown below

creating a hole, now sew this hole shut by going through both sides of the hole and pulling it closed.

Now work your yarn back toward the bottom of the booty to finish sewing up the toe part.

Once you have reached the foot part of the booty (the sc rows) stop sewing and make a few embroidery knots to fasten. The last knot don’t go all the way through. Cut your yarn and pull out one of the strings. Then use it to tie a few knots to secure.

Now it’s time to sew the bottom of the booty. Thread your tapestry needle using the long tail we left at the beginning and sew down the side of the booty until you reach the last inch. Be sure that you have your Rows aligned.

Fold the bottom in a T shape and sew.

Crochet booties 24

Work the yarn back up to the center and tie a knot like before.

Crochet booties 25 -1

Making the Rim

Now working with only one thread of yarn, NOT double, we’ll start making the rim of the booty.

Crochet booties 26 -1

Do a sc attachment near the front of the booty near the toe section, and work sc’s

I usually do a few single crochet decreases at the back and front part of the booty for the first three rounds of single crochets. You will be doing 5 rounds total.

Crochet booties 27

Helps to keep it more snug to the foot.

If you wish to do more than 5 rounds and make your booty into a high top feel free! Enjoy!
